BACKGROUND INFORMATION

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND, ESTABLISHMENT AND MANDATE

Mvumi Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS) was established in 2012.  MIHS is registered by NACTE (Reg. HAS/011) running under the umbrella of the Diocese of Central Tanganyika. The institute comprises six Training Departments awarding Certificate, Diploma or both.  Training provided by institute include: (Clinical Officers), (ii) Nursing and Midwifery (iii) Laboratory Technologists and Technicians (iv) Pharmaceutical basic Technician certificate and Technicians, (v) Community Health Workers (vi) and Basic certificate and Technician Certificate in Information Technology.  Currently MIHS is offering Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine (NTA level 6), Ordinary Diploma in Nursing (NTA level 6), Technician Certificate in Laboratory sciences (NTA level 5), and Basic Technician Certificate in Community Health Workers (NTA level 4).
